Psychotherapy & Neuroaffirmative Support

Nottingham City Centre, West Bridgford, Ruddington and Online

Tailored sessions at your own pace

I’m Sarah, a neuroaffirmative psychotherapist, ADHD coach, and clinical supervisor with over 16 years' experience of counselling university staff and students. I help clients work through trauma, family or relationship difficulties and anxiety and depression so that they can regain control of their lives.

I specialise in working with neurodivergent adults who are navigating challenges such as stress, burnout, perfectionism and self-doubt in a world that isn’t always built for them.

I offer:

  • Specialist knowledge of ADHD,  Autism, AuDhD, dyslexia/dyspraxia

  • Flexible booking—schedule sessions when it suits you

  • In-person (Nottingham, West Bridgford, Ruddington) & online

  • Approved insurance provider for BUPA, Allianz, AXA, AVIVA, WPA

Whether you're exploring an ADHD/Autism diagnosis, struggling to find direction in your life or to come to terms with a difficult situation or experience,  I offer a compassionate, practical approach to help you find balance, develop coping strategies, and move forward with your life.

How I work

I offer a free 20-minute discovery call to discuss your aims for your sessions and to give you an opportunity to ask any questions.

I have experience of working with most of the types of situations that might lead people to seek support. However if I believe that I am not the right counsellor for you, I will signpost you to other colleagues in the local area.

My core training is as a Humanistic Person-Centred psychotherapist. Within this framework I work integratively and collaboratively, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Compassion-Focused therapy, CBT, Brief-solution Focused Therapy, mindfulness, guided visualisation and somatic therapy techniques.

I am mindful that most therapeutic approaches were originally based on neurotypical models for change and adapt these approaches for my neurodivergent clients to take account of different ways of interacting with and understanding the world.

It's important though for us to work with your preferences, which we will discuss at our initial meeting and review regularly alongside your therapeutic goals. I offer sessions which are longer or shorter than the standard 50-minutes if preferred and can adapt the therapeutic environment and media used for maximum comfort and efficacy.

Where appropriate I offer neurodivergent clients customised support sessions which integrate aspects of ADHD/autism coaching into our counselling sessions.

I work holistically in the belief that lasting changes only occur when the different elements of your everyday functioning are balanced and you are living according to your own value-system, strengths and interests.

My qualifications include an MA in Humanistic Person-Centred Psychotherapy (SPTI/University of Birmingham). I am also a qualified supervisor and ADHD Works Coach, and have trained extensively in all aspects of neurodivergence and trauma. I regularly attend continuing professional development courses and clinical supervision.

As a registered member of the BACP, a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist and a Senior Accredited NCPS Registrant, I abide by the the UKCP Code of Ethics, the  NCPS Code of Ethics and the BACP Ethical Framework

My practice is covered by professional indemnity insurance.
